Our Varieties

Our Ethics

We think its important that our values align. So lets get some stuff out of the way

Culling:

We are a *cull heavy* rattery. We cull for a variety of reasons including reducing litter size, health issues, temperament, variety, etc. â€‹â€‹Our culls are humanely euthanized via AVMA approved methods and are either used as food for our personal animals or donated. No life is wasted.

Food:

We feed Kalmbach 23% Rodent Diet. This is a complete diet, but we also give them enrichment snacks such as black sunflower seeds, live mealworms, scrambled eggs,  etc.

Temperament:

Our rats are evaluated at around 6-8 weeks old. After we choose our holdbacks, some rats may be available for pet homes at 8 weeks old. We will only adopt out rats we would personally like to have as a pet. We do not adopt out rats that show skittish behavior. We do ask for adopters to keep us up to date on any issues they have so we can document and evaluate our lines accordingly.

Testing:

Our rattery is tested yearly for pathogens via serology testing through Charles River Labs.

Housing:

Gen-pop and grow-out bins are 50 gallon/200qt sterilite bins.

Maternity bins are 26 gallon/105qt sterilite bins.

We bed them deep with kiln dried pine and decorate with multiple toys, chews, and hides.
